Why We Believe In Natural, Organic Skin Care

Why Buy Natural & Organic Skin Care?Organic Skin Care

  • You will look 10 years younger

  • Your wrinkles will disappear

  • Your skin will look like that of a supermodel

  • Your skin will become youthful and firm

At this point, you are asking, “Are you serious?”
The answer is a resounding NO, of course not!!

Sadly, this is what many commercial skincare companies are selling—the secret to perfect skin and eternal youth. No skincare product, whether natural, organic, or conventional can “cure” aging. Aging is a fact of life, not a condition that needs to be (or can be) cured by skincare products.

So, why use organic skincare? My answer—Why Not!

Natural Organic Skin CareWe believe in natural and organic ingredients because we manufacture and sell products that cater to the largest organ in the human body—the Skin.

Our SKIN, remarkably thin and amazingly complex, is our body’s largest organ.

An adult's skin typically covers 22 square feet and weighs 8-10 pounds.

Our skin shelters us from the hazards of our environment and yet allows us to experience pain and pleasure.

It works to renew itself every second of every day as we shed some 40 pounds of dead skin cells in the course of our lifetime.

One square inch of skin is reported to contain approximately 65 hairs, 100 sebaceous glands, 78 yards of nerves, 19 yards of blood vessels, 9,500,000 cells, 1,300 nerve endings, and 650 sweat glands.

Our skin is designed to protect the body and act as a barrier to, among other things, toxins. And does a pretty good job.

But our skin is also a bit like a sponge and can absorb chemicals. But how much can it absorb?

You often see comments like, "we can absorb up to 60 percent of what we put on our skin." But the answer is not that simple.

There are two words very important and distinct words we need to understand when discussing skin and chemicals: Penetration and Absorption.

Penetration is when a chemical makes it makes its way past the stratum corneum (the outer layer of skin) into the deeper layers of the skin. Absorption is when the chemical actually makes it into the bloodstream. While these two terms are often used interchangeably that is just not correct.

When choosing skincare products both concepts are important. While many chemicals can penetrate into the deepest levels of the skin, many are too large to be absorbed directly into the bloodstream or their absorption rates are very slow.

So does that mean we don't have to worry about the chemicals in most skincare products?

There is still not enough research on the skin absorption rates of many chemicals. The problem is that chemicals come in different sizes and have different absorption rates over time. To complicate that even further, we, as human beings are not all the same. Your precise chemical makeup is not exactly the same as everyone else which presents a real challenge for accurate research on absorption rates of chemicals and their components on "every" body.

Since our skin cannot discriminate between synthetic and natural, or between harmful and beneficial, we just don't know enough about how it may absorb harmful chemicals present in commercial skincare products.

So the question I ask is  . . .  What Do You Want to put on Your Skin?

Organic Natural Deodorant

Discouraged by the harsh commercial soaps available, we began creating our own handmade soaps and skincare products with all-natural ingredients.

Our bodies are constantly exposed to synthetic chemicals in the air, water, and food--why add to the problem by applying synthetic products to your skin and hair. The long-term effects of synthetic chemicals on the body are still unknown.

Most of the ingredients that are used to make Chagrin Valley products can be found in your garden and kitchen pantry. These nourishing, natural, and organic ingredients are packed with protein, vitamins, and minerals.

Organic Farming

Organic ingredients rely on organic farming. Organic farming methods are better for the environment. It improves the quality of our environment by protecting our land and groundwater from contamination and by promoting the use of sustainable resources and the conservation of soil and water.

Also, many of the synthetic chemicals found in commercial skin care products do not naturally breakdown. Instead, as they wash down our drains, they accumulate in our ecosystems. These chemicals infiltrate our lakes, streams, rivers and public water systems.

When We Say Natural
We Mean Natural!Natural Organic Healing Salve

Look at the ingredients for a product you are now using. Although it may have the words “all natural" or "organic" on the label, is it really an all-natural product?

Synthetic ingredients can cause skin irritation and pollute our environment. Some are possible carcinogens or endocrine disrupters. Synthetic additives provide no benefit.
