Organic Elder Berries

Organic Elder Berries

Elder Berries, Sambucus nigra, are dark purple berries from the Elder tree, a flowering shrub native to most of Europe, North America, and southwest Asia. Its flowers and berries have a long history of medicinal use throughout history by everyone from Ancient Egyptians to Europeans to Native Americans. Elder berries have also been used for making preserves and wines.

You may be familiar with elderberry as an immunity-boosting supplement, but it also packs amazing skincare benefits.

The deep purple berries are rich in antioxidants, specifically flavonoids, and anthocyanins. The antimicrobial and antifungal compounds in elderberry make it ideal for fighting acne. Elderberries can help balance excess skin oils, ease breakouts for those with acne-prone skin, and keep skin healthy and clear.

The high levels of antioxidants and vitamin A, make elderberries a great addition to any skincare regimen. Elderberries have been used topically to help reduce inflammation, soothe irritated or dry skin and improve eczema.
