Organic Sunflower Oil
Sunflower Seed Oil, Helianthus annuus, expeller pressed from the seeds, is very high in vitamins and essential fatty acids and helps to moisturize, regenerate and condition the skin.
This light oil is non-comedogenic which is easily absorbed and can be used on all types of skin, including dry, normal, oily, and acne-prone. Sunflower seed oil, known to be one of the most moisturizing vegetable oils, has emollient properties that not only help hydrate skin but also help the skin retain its moisture. Sunflower oil has anti-inflammatory properties that help soothe and heal skin irritated skin conditions, reduce redness, and promote smoother skin.
There are two types of sunflower available on store shelves, regular (high in linoleic acid) and high oleic. While both are great for skin, the high oleic version is heavier and feels more like olive oil.
Our organic sunflower oil is the type that is rich in linoleic acid (not the high oleic version). We like the skin benefits of the high omega-6 (linoleic) fatty acid content which along with vitamin E, helps decrease inflammation. Linoleic acid is an essential fatty acid that studies have shown may help maintain the natural moisture barrier of the skin to prevent dryness. Sunflower oil is recommended by the National Eczema Association for eczema. It is a great oil for delicate, dry, or mature skin.
In hair care, nutrient-rich sunflower oil moisturizes, nourishes and protects for silky, strong, healthy hair. Sunflower oil is said to be a hair strengthener and prevent aging of the hair follicle. Sunflower Oil contains beneficial amounts of Phospholipids which also help nourish and strengthen hair.
