Organic Passion Flower

Organic Passion Flower

Passionflower, Passiflora incarnata, is a perennial climbing vine with large intricate flowers. Its medicinal use has a rich history of traditional use dating back to prehistoric times. The Cherokee used the root to create poultices for skin wounds and infections.

Passionflower is calming to the mind and soothing to the spirit. Herbalists often recommend it as a general nerve tonic to treat nervous stress and anxiety. Passionflower is often used in conjunction with other mildly sedative herbs like lemon balm and valerian.

Evidence has shown that passionflower has anti-inflammatory properties which help alleviate the redness and irritation often resulting from inflammatory skin conditions.
