Anise Essential Oil
Anise Seed essential oil, Pimpinella anisum, has a warm, sweet aroma reminiscent of Licorice or Fennel. Most black licorice candy sold in the US is flavored with anise, not licorice root. Although the scent is similar to both fennel and star anise none of the licorice-scented plants are related. Anise is actually a closer relative celery, carrots, and parsley than either star anise or fennel.
It has great deodorizing properties and is known for its use in fisherman's soap. It is said to remove human scent so fish will be more apt to bite.
Anise also has antimicrobial, antifungal, antiviral, and muscle relaxant properties which can help keep acne-causing bacteria at bay. It also cleanses pores to help deter acne in the first place.
Anise seed oil has muscle relaxing properties. When added to a massage oil it helps ease muscle pain and discomfort.
Aromatherapy Properties: The emotionally balancing scent dispels lethargy and helps the mind to focus. Anise oil can act as a sedative, easing anxiety, stress, and nervousness. It also has a tranquilizing and relaxing effect that can ease insomnia, helping those who struggle with sleepless nights drift off to sleep faster and sleep better as well.
