Ginger Essential Oil
Ginger, Zingebar officinale, is steam distilled from the flowering perennial that belongs to the plant family as Turmeric and Cardamom. The part of the plant that is used is called the rhizome. While it may look like a root, a rhizome is actually an underground stem. Used for thousands of years by the Chinese and Indian cultures to help heal and ward off infections and colds, ginger is a warming, stimulating, oil.
Well known for its ability to increase circulation which helps brighten a dull complexion, the oil also helps soothe skin irritation and redness. Topical application in a carrier oil may be helpful for inflammatory conditions such as joint pain, eczema or psoriasis.
In hair care, a Chinese folk remedy recommends rubbing ginger oil on the scalp to curb hair loss. Ginger oil can help strengthen hair strands, soothe dryness and itchiness, diminish dandruff, and stimulates scalp circulation for healthier hair.
