Lemongrass Essential Oil

Lemongrass essential oil, Cymbopogon flexuosus, has a wonderful, uplifting lemony scent that is steam distilled from a grass harvested in Guatemala. Lemongrass has long been used in Eastern medicine to treat muscular pain and stiffness. The soothing properties of Lemongrass essential oil help relax muscles. When in massage oil it can be helpful for muscle aches after physical activity.

Its natural astringent and antibacterial properties make it useful in the treatment of acne, blemishes, and other skin inflammations. Skin-soothing properties help improve skin texture and cleanse your skin without the drying that overexcites the oil glands

The fresh uplifting scent and antibacterial and antifungal properties of lemongrass help protect against odor-causing bacteria and make it a great addition to any natural deodorant.

In hair care, lemongrass oil increases fullness and body and adds luster to dull hair. It may also be an effective treatment to combat hair loss and oily hair, dandruff, and other scalp conditions. Some herbalists believe that lemongrass oil can strengthen the hair follicles, another benefit for those suffering from thinning or weak hair.

Aromatherapy Properties: The unique aroma of lemongrass has notes of herbaceous grass, orange blossom, lemon, and a hint of spice. There has been recent research in India that shows that lemongrass acts as a sedative on the central nervous system which helps relieve tension, ease anxiety, and promote the sensation of being calm.

Aromatherapists value lemongrass for its ability to both calm and revitalize, invigorate, and inspire, combat lethargy, irritability, and nervousness.  It also boosts mental alertness and terminates mental fatigue.
