Litsea Cubeba Essential Oil
Litsea, Litsea cubeba, also known as May Chang, comes from a small tropical tree with fragrant lemony scented leaves and flowers. The essential oil is steam distilled from the small fruits shaped like peppers, from which the name "cubeba" is derived. The lemony scent of litsea is very similar to lemongrass but more delicate and sweeter.
Litsea Cubeba Essential Oil has gentle astringent properties that can work wonders for oily or acne-prone skin. It helps to balance sebum production, cleanse pores, tone the skin, and reduce the appearance of pores.
This healing oil has antiseptic, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. When used in a massage oil Litsea can help increase circulation to ease pain and inflammation. A gentle chest massage diluted in a carrier oil may help ease breathing during the cold and flu season.
In hair care, its astringent properties also help balance scalp oil production.
