Tea Tree Essential Oil


Tea Tree essential oil, Melaleuca alternifolia, is a natural antiseptic, germicide, antibacterial, fungicide and deodorant, refreshes, stimulates, and deep cleans the skin and scalp. Australian Aborigines discovered that the oil from the leaves of the tea tree provided a natural cure for a wide variety of ailments and it is often referred to by Australians as a "first aid kit in a bottle." The oil, extracted from the tree leaves by steam distillation, has a medicinal and penetrating scent that many describe it as clean and refreshing.

Tea Tree has antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties. It is also great for reducing minor inflammation. Next to thyme, it is the most antiseptic of all oils. It is safer to use, and unlike thyme, it is gentle even for sensitive skin. Its antiseptic and healing properties make it a wonderful natural remedy to help rosacea caused by Demodex mites. 

A valuable medicinal oil, tea tree helps heal infections, soothe skin disorders like topical allergic reactions, rashes, and burns. It helps fight acne without causing dryness or other side effects of modern-day acne treatments. Tea Tree is often the main component found in anti-acne and anti-blemish face products and is an excellent skin cleanser and toner. 

In hair care, tea tree oil is used as a treatment for dry scalp, oily hair, dandruff, and itchiness. It removes scalp build-up and helps rejuvenate dull lifeless hair, leaving hair soft, clean and manageable. Tea Tree oil offers a gentle alternative to chemical-laden haircare products, The antifungal properties of tea tree oil are especially helpful in treating dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis caused by a yeast-like fungus called Malassezia
