Black Clay, also known as Terra Black Clay, is a soft absorbent clay Montmorillonite clay, (like bentonite) named after the western region of France known as Montmorillon. Montmorillonite clays usually include the sediment of volcanic ash that was naturally deposited in seawater. It has a very fine, silky texture and beautiful charcoal black hue.
Black clay helps soothe irritation. Its healing powers are attributed to its rich oxygen and mineral content. It draws out impurities like a magnet to help rid skin of dirt and debris from everyday exposure to environmental pollutants which can help clear blemishes.
Rich in silica and other minerals, black clay provides gentle exfoliation and is often used in face and body masks to stimulate circulation, remove dead skin cells, absorb excess oil and improve skin tone leaving skin noticeably softer and smoother. For facial applications, it is great for normal to oily skin types.
Our mineral-rich French Clay is mined from natural mineral products. It is unwashed and mechanically pulverized into a very fine powder and dried without the use of any chemical treatments or additives.
