Organic Sage Essential Oil
Sage essential oil, Salvia officinalis, steam distilled from the leaves of the plant has an uplifting, herbal scent. The Chinese believed Sage cured sterility and the Romans believed it cured just about everything. The Latin word "salvare" means 'to heal' or 'to save'. Sage has many properties that make it beneficial for the skin and has been used throughout history for its medicinal properties, especially for calming and soothing the skin.
Its moisturizing and conditioning properties help soothe dryness and irritation and it is reputed to improve dull complexions, firm tissues, and diminish the appearance of enlarged pores. It has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and astringent properties which may help ease problems with oily skin and acne as well as treat minor skin irritations.
When added to massage oil, sage can help ease muscular aches and joint pain associated with the symptoms of arthritis.
In hair care, it stimulates hair growth and helps decrease hair loss. Used in hair, Sage Oil’s moisturizing and conditioning properties help soothe irritation and prevent dandruff while cleansing the scalp to remove the look and feel of greasiness caused by excessive oil.
Aromatherapy Properties: During the Middle Ages, Sage was a popular ingredient of many nerve tonics. The oil has a fresh, fruity, warm, spicy, and herbaceous aroma that promotes feelings of balance and relaxation. It provides a balancing, soothing yet uplifting, and strengthening effect on the senses to help ease negative moods, calm nerves, lessen anxiety and stress, and ease head and neck tension. The warm aroma helps reduce emotional exhaustion and mental fatigue while promoting a sense of attentiveness, to clarify the mind and improve memory and cognition.
