How to Use
Great for the bath or shower: After soaping & rinsing, massage the bar over your warm wet skin. Pay special attention to extra dry places. Your warm skin will readily melt the nourishing bar. You can rinse a bit or for extra moisturizing just pat dry.*
As a hair treat: rub some butter on your hands and run your buttered fingers through the length of your hair!
As a bath treat: cut a sliver off the bar, drop into your tub and watch as it melts away releasing skin loving ingredients.*
As a lotion bar: No time for a bath or shower--rub the nourishing oils and butters into dry skin areas.
* When using in bath or shower, always take care as your bath or shower may become slippery.
Remember, the skin is the body's largest organ
and it needs to breathe as part of its
important role in maintaining overall health!
Well, first of all, it's an all-natural product. Commercial lotions are NOT. Our Whipped Shea Butters only contain the ingredients that they need. Creams and lotions created in a lab often clog pores, aggravate acne, trigger allergic reactions, and make skin feels heavy and greasy.
The organic oils and butters we use do NOT contain petroleum based chemicals (Mineral Oil, Petrolatum, Paraffin), chemical emulsifiers (DEA, MEA, TEA), chemical preservatives (Parabens, Urea), Propylene Glycol, artificial colors, or synthetic fragrances.
Lotions have a very high water content. Once water is added to make a lotion, it is almost impossible to create an all natural product and still keep the bacteria and mold out.
No Alcohol or Petroleum Ingredients
Have you ever noticed that when you use your body lotion your skin never stays moist and you find yourself going back to the lotion bottle over and over?
Look at the ingredients. Often times water is the main ingredient. Commercial lotions often contain isopropyl alcohol and/or mineral oil. Both of these actually are very drying to your skin. The alcohol gives a temporary sense of coolness due to evaporation.
Mineral oil is found in lotions, soaps, baby oil, cosmetics, and motor oil. Mineral oil is a clear, liquid oil with no scent and will not spoil. It is very inexpensive because it is produced as a byproduct of the distillation of gasoline from crude oil. It is great for oiling your wooden cutting boards--but not your skin. Mineral oil does not penetrate to soften. It is difficult to absorb, coats your skin and clogs the pores. If you would like to have healthy skin, stay away from mineral oils, animal fat, petroleum, and synthetic oil based skincare.
No Propylene Glycol
Commercial creams and lotion often contain propylene glycol, which acts as a “humectant, preservative or stabilizer. Commercial skin-care products are stored and shipped and must have a very long shelf-life. Propylene glycol helps the fragrance, consistency and product appearance to remain attractive throughout its long life.
While the FDA has categorized propylene glycol as "Generally Recognized as Safe," and some say that

- Soothe and smooth skin after shaving
- Add a dollop to your hot bath water instead of using synthetic bath oils
- Massage some into your cuticles to soften them
- Massage into your lips for a great all natural lip balm

I just tried this shower butter bar [Cocoa Shea] from my last order. I is so wonderful! And a double thank you for making a variety without the mango which is my personal allergen.
I have been having a long-standing dry skin problem on my lower legs that nothing could help. Different lotions, different soaps, moist heat--nothing made any difference once the cold weather hit. The skin would get deep red cracks and be so itchy I could hardly stand it. Any lotions would not even last until the next shower and even seemed to make the condition worse in that they seemed to pull more oil OUT of the skin to be washed away.
This year my skin was already starting to get dry and scaly as soon as the cooler weather arrived. I tried the shower butter bar right after my morning shower and the itching stopped immediately. I was so very comfortable all day. The waxy/oily combo is in perfect proportions and it sealed the skin enough to let it heal. I used it every day for a week and now the skin is moist and smooth, and it is fine even if I skip the butter bar for a day. That surely never happened with anything else. Andrea, Ohio
My baby has sensitive skin but my Mother insisted I use the top name-brand baby shampoo (she LOVED the smell). I noticed my baby's skin would get red and bumpy with patches of eczema. I decided to try the Chagrin Valley castile soap and not only is baby's skin irritation free, but the smell is also wonderfully light and fresh smelling. I've also used the cocoa shea shower butter bar for dry skin patches on my baby, as well as on her head when she started developing cradle cap. Her skin is 100% moisturized and cradle cap-free! If I skip a day using the shea butter bar, the cradle cap and dry skin start to return. I, personally, also love the shampoo bars and shea butter bar for myself as well. I can't thank you enough for making such quality, natural products that I trust for myself and my baby! Marnie, South Africa
Dear Ida, I think I’m in love. The combination of your Sea Salt and Seaweed soap and the Cocoa Shea Butter Bar has left my skin soft, smooth, and simply glowing. I first want to say that I have dry skin that gets very itchy in the winter, so I was quite skeptical to try out your Sea Salt soap for fear of exacerbating the issue. This was not the case in the least. The salt helps exfoliate my skin, gently, and without making my skin feel like it’s a size too small for my body. Topping it off with the body butter is the icing on the cake as it softens my skin and leaves it with a glowing sheen.
This duo is so gentle that I even use it on my face twice per week. However, in this winter weather, I use the Butter Bar on my face every day. Every other moisturizer I’ve tried has either not penetrated the skin or leaves my skin dry 5 minutes later. The butter bar, with the quality ingredients of cocoa and shea butters, are exactly what my face needs to give it that perfect moisture balance. The bar has also calmed some of the redness on my face and I find myself using less makeup to cover it. Plus my face remains soft and smooth all day without reapplying any moisturizer, which I frequently had do do with moisturizers of lesser quality. Thank you so much for making these wonderful products! Elissa, Indiana
