Product Overview

This gentle herbal hair rinse is crafted with a blend of organic roots, leaves, and flowers traditionally used to soothe a flaky, easily irritated scalp.

When brewed as a tea and used as a rinse, these botanicals gently cleanse, soothe, and help loosen dry flakes—without stripping the scalp or disrupting its natural balance.  A simple addition to your routine when your scalp needs a little extra care.

The Herbs Behind the Blend
  • Burdock Root has long been used to help calm dry, uncomfortable scalp conditions while supporting softer, more manageable hair.
  • Chamomile is a gentle, soothing herb that helps ease the feeling of irritation and dryness.
  • Green Tea, known for its clarifying qualities, helps calm and refresh the scalp and support a more balanced feel.
  • Nettle is traditionally used to help clarify and refresh the scalp, especially when excess oil or buildup is present.
  • Peppermint has astringent properties and offers a cooling, refreshing sensation that can help the scalp feel invigorated.
  • Rosemary, a classic hair herb, helps support a healthy-feeling scalp while adding shine and luster to the hair.
  • Thyme helps gently cleanse and refresh the scalp.
  • Lavender adds a calming element, both for the scalp and the overall experience.
What You’ll Notice
  • Scalp feels calmer and more comfortable
  • Dry flakes appear less noticeable
  • Hair feels lighter, softer, and refreshed
  • A gentle, herbal rinse that refreshes and leaves the scalp feeling comfortable—not tight or dry.
A Simple, Natural Approach

This rinse is not a treatment—it’s a gentle, supportive way to care for a scalp that feels out of balance.

Used regularly, it can help maintain a comfortable, refreshed scalp environment.

Calm scalp. Fewer flakes. Naturally refreshed.

One bag contains about 1 cup of tea — enough for 4 to 8 rinses. A reusable cotton muslin bag is included.

How To Use

Basic Herbal Tea Hair Rinse Recipe

Prepare the Tea
  • Boil 2 cups of water
  • Place 3 to 4 tablespoons of hair tea into a muslin bag or cheesecloth and secure tightly
  • Turn off the heat and allow the herbs to steep for at least 30 minutes to an hour
  • Allow the tea to cool
  • Give the bag a final squeeze to capture all of the botanical essence
  • If bits of herbs escaped the bag, strain the tea
  • Pour the cooled tea into a clean spray bottle, plastic squeeze bottle, or another container

When your infusion is complete, toss the contents of the tea bag into the garden or compost. Rinse the bag and allow it to dry.

How To Use

Massage gently into the scalp and hair, leave on for a few minutes, then rinse lightly or leave in, depending on your preference.

Because every hair type is different, you may need to experiment with strength and frequency to find what works best for you.

Unexpected result

"Well, I just tried it this morning. I accidentally left it overnight. Didn’t seem to do much of a harm. I noticed that it’s tended to give my hair body. That was an unexpected result and I’m hoping that a dry flaky scalp will benefit also."

Smells wonderful and brilliant results!

"The tea smells amazing - refreshing while earthy. I really appreciate a direct approach to helping hair conditions with the exact ingredients needed in their entirety! My customer service has been truly amazing, Christina was kind, understanding and helpful to any questions I had. An amazing first impression to Chagrin Valley :) Thank you!"

Hair Tea Dandruff Blend

"I am new user and started using my first shampoo bar "Ayurvedic Herb". After a few washes, I tried the Dandruff tea blend and prepared it by following the instructions strictly making sure I did not make any mistakes. I used the concoction tea to rinse off after my shampoo, but unfortunately it made my hair v frizzy, dry and stripped the luster and softness from the Shampoo bar. After 1 day, I had to shampoo again to make it better. The Shampoo bar is excellent from Day 1 of use, no conditioner needed and to my surprise it cleanses v well, but not the tea. The Detangler blend was out of stock at the time of my order so I thought to order Dandruff Blend, which did not suit my hair. I have thick, dry and v frizzy hair and I might need something else, so far Shampoo bar helped me a lot in managing my wild hair. This tea may work for those who have v greasy scalp/hair. I am wondering if there's a way to utilize the leftover bag to avoid wastage. The tea itself has a subtle Chamomile scent and goes away post rinsing."

Good product, read instructions!

"I think the product is good, just not what I needed. My scalp often feels very sore, but not from dandruff. I thought I would try it anyway. It did seem soothing, but not any better than washing usually does. I will also say I tried letting it sit without rinsing it out and it did make my hair a bit more stiff than normal so I would recommend rinsing. Again, I think the product works well for the intended purpose just make sure you read and get what you actually need."

Soothing

"This was very soothing and began to help me with my terrible dandruff problem right away! I’m so glad I found this tea rinse right when I needed it! I let it soak into my scalp and hair over night which helped so much! And I got a new hair brush and shampoo afterwards. I only used this tea one time and haven’t had very much dandruff since."

Melissa C. (5/5)

Made a difference

"I already love using Chagrin Valley's shampoo bars, but using this herbal rinse for the first time made a noticeable difference. My hair was softer, had less buildup at the roots, and appeared cleaner."

Use if ACV is too strong for you

"I have dry scalp so I tried an apple cider vinegar rinse. It made my scalp oily. If that’s you this tea blend is the perfect solution. It works if you rinse and wash out, rinse and leave on or my current method: spritzing my scalp every day until the dryness is gone. My hair feels soft too."

Itching Stopped After First Use

"The products came very quickly and I like the muslim bags that came with it as well. I have a very itchy scalp and after multiple different products I was getting at my wits end. After doing a lot of research I decided to try more natural approach to fix the issue. I saw the ingredients are known to treat scalp problems so I decided to give it a try. Now I have to warn you that it does make you hair very dry so follow up with a conditioner and deep conditioner to put the moisture back in its the reason why I'm deducting a star but overall I'm very happy with the product so far. The itching is gone and I'm going to use it for a few more weeks but this is the first time that my scalp has been calm in weeks."

Great Item

"Hair felt less irritated and clean. I will buy again and I love Muslim bags as well."

Q&A

I have scalp psoriasis, but I am trying to phase out all chemicals in my hair and skin routine. Has anyone had success using this product for psoriasis? Thank you!
Hi Melanie, Thanks so much for reaching out! For scalp psoriasis, I would recommend trying some samples of the Neem & Tea Tree shampoo and the Coconut Milk as well. I would also recommend an ACV rinse after shampooing! The Dandruff tea is a great for dry, flakey scalps and can also help but I have seen more customers find some success with the shampoos and ACV rinses! I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and have a great day! -Christina, Chagrin Valley
I have a combined question, can you mix this with acv to make an herbal vinegar rinse? And if so, if you make a bottle's worth that lasts a week, does it need refrigeration or could you just keep the small bottle in the shower?
Hi Cathy, Thanks so much for reaching out! While we have never personally tried this at Chagrin Valley we do steep all of our ACV Concentrates with herbs and oils to make an herbal ACV Concentrate so I don't see why it wouldn't work! As far as storage, we do recommend refrigerating our tea blends for 7-10 days after you make the tea. I hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns and have a great day! -Christina, Chagrin Valley
Hi, I have a 4 year old with a severely itchy/ dry scalp. We’ve tried so many different shampoos and conditioners... looking for a shampoo, conditioner, ACV rinse, and something with additional oils to add during the day for spot treatment on dry patches that you can recommend? She’s on steroid oils to help with inflammation but her hair seems to be falling out.
Hi There, Thanks for your question! Our Neem & Tea Tree shampoo bar is a great option for scalp issues such as dryness, irritation and redness. I would recommend trying a sample of this bar to see if it helps. Another great bar to try would be the Rosemary Mint Charcoal. As far as a spot treatment, our calendula salve is a great all purpose moisturizing salve that is soothing for irritated and dry skin. It is a bit thicker in consistency but it provides a nice, rich moisturizer for dry spots. Some customers have also found that adding an Apple Cider Vinegar to their hair care routine has helped a lot with a variety of scalp issues and overall manageability of their hair! Hope this helps! Thanks again for reaching out and please contact us anytime with additional questions! -Christina, Chagrin Valley
Newby here. =-) If I choose a dandruff shampoo bar, will using this rinse (or an ACV rinse), counter act or compliment the effects of said shampoo? Also, I'd like the scent to stay in my hair after shampooing, how do I achieve that? I hate washing my hair and have it smell like nothing's happened. Thank you for your time and work. I think i'm gonna love your company. I already admire Ida.
Hi There, Thanks for your question! Using a hair tea or ACV rinse will work together with the shampoo bar you chose to help alleviate dandruff and soothe your scalp! Most of our customers find that following up their shampoo with a hair tea or ACV rinse has helped to moisturize their hair and scalp, alleviate dandruff, and strengthen their hair. While the scent of the Apple Cider Vinegar rinse or hair tea will not be overwhelmingly strong on your hair after you have rinsed it out, they will leave a very light fresh scent, the shampoo bars that are scented with essential oils will do the same! Hope this helps! Thanks again for reaching out and please contact us anytime with additional questions! -Christina
When in your hair care routine should you use this? (ie, after shampooing? Before?)
Hi There, Thanks for your question! Most of our customers find that they get the most benefit out of this product when it is used after they shampoo and in the following manner: Directions for a Simple Herbal Hair Rinse Tea: 1. Fill muslin bag with 2 to 3 tablespoons of herbs. 2. Pour 2 cups of boiling water over herbal bag. 3. Steep for at least 30 minutes covered. 4. Remove herbs from the tea and make sure it’s not too hot. As you slowly pour the tea over your wet head, massage the infusion into your hair and scalp. Keep a large bowl under your head to catch the liquid and reapply several times. 5. Gently rinse it out with cool water or, for extra conditioning benefits, just leave it in and towel dry hair. Hope this helps! Thanks again for reaching out and please contact us anytime with additional questions! -Christina

Preguntas frecuentes
