Product Overview

Does your loyal companion suffer from dry, itchy skin? This natural dog shampoo bar is made with nourishing organic plant oils and enriched with shea butter to add shine as they moisturize, clean, and nourish your dog’s skin and coat.

The oat flour, honey, and cornstarch help soothe itchy, irritated, inflamed, and dry skin. Honey revitalizes the coat, adds shine and acts as a natural sealant.

Rich in nourishing fatty acids, Coconut Oil has natural emollient properties that help maintain a soft, silky, shiny, and healthy coat. When applied topically, the oil is readily absorbed into the skin, providing deep hydration and creating a protective layer for dry and itchy skin. Moisturizing Shea Butter is especially beneficial for dogs with dry, irritated skin.

The Essential oil blend has soothing proprieties and includes tea tree, lemongrass, and peppermint oils which can help repel fleas and ticks.

Why Our Dog Shampoo?

  • Made with organic ingredients, it does not contain harsh chemicals that strip natural oils and dry out the skin leaving coats dull and lifeless.
  • A rich and creamy conditioning shampoo bar.
  • Lathers up easily.
  • Rinses out easily and leaves fur with a mild, clean scent and helps soothe dry, itchy skin.
  • Environmentally-friendly: packaged in a compostable cardboard box and no plastic bottle!
  • Economical: replaces 2 or 3 bottles of liquid shampoo.
  • Contains no synthetic fragrances or colors, sulfates or parabens.
  • The perfect size to fit in the palm of your hand for easier use!

We are active in and support Rescue Village, our amazing local animal shelter!

Products with essential oils should not be used on cats

Need to freshen your dog’s coat between washes? Our Dry Shampoo for Dogs absorbs excess oils and leaves your dog's coat smelling fresh and clean while boosting natural shine.

We purchase our organic oats and oat flour from Stutzman's Farms. Read more about Stutzman's Farms in the FAQs on this page.

How To Use

Using a bar of soap to wash your dog is much simpler and less messy than using liquid soap. The perfect size bar fits in the palm of your hand for easier use.

  • Thoroughly wet your dog with warm water
  • Rub the bar on your dog's wet coat and use your fingers to create a rich, creamy lather. If necessary, put more water on the dog to create lather.
  • Working from head to tail, carefully avoiding eyes, massage the natural shampoo deep into the coat on the body, belly, neck and feet.
  • Rinse thoroughly to prevent dried soapy hair.
  • Repeat if your dog is really dirty, but one wash is usually enough.
  • Rub the coat down with a clean, dry towel.

When finished bathing your dog, allow the bar to dry out completed and then store it back in its box until the next bath time.

Tip: Apply a bit of shampoo to a small cotton face pad (I use this one) and use it to gently wipe that grimy area around the snout and under the eyes.

Dog sitter's favorite soap

"I'm a pet sitter and this is my favorite soap to use on clients' dogs. It's long-lasting, smells nice, relieves itchy skin, and doesn't leave their coat overly dry or stripped. I love that it's a bar soap, as it's easier to spread evenly throughout the coat."

Daniel (5/5)

Great dog shampoo

"Easy to use and easy to rinse off. Left my dog clean and comfortable."

Winnie (5/5)

Best Dog Shampoo

"This is the only shampoo I use on my dogs. We have a lab mix and a cattle dog mix and this is the best shampoo for both. This shampoo bar is easy to use, lathers well, rinses easily and leaves only a light fresh scent."

Karen R. (5/5)

Bar soap amazing

"My pup was always itching his skin was a mess. My daughter suggested I try this bar soap and he is not scratching all the time."

Lisa X. (5/5)

Pawesome all-natural dog shampoo

"I have a few favorite Chagrin Valley soaps. My other (new) favorite is Honey & Oats dog shampoo. My Australian shepherd and Rottweiler mix normally gets smelly fast. His coat also gets oily fast, and with the oiliness comes tons of dandruff. Ever since I've started using Honey & Oats on my boy, he stays fresher longer and smells better. He has no more flakes and oily coat. His coat is so soft and shiny. I saw an improvement the first time around. I also love that Honey & Oats also has essential oils that repel insects. My boy picks up fleas quickly, so I hope he stays flea-free come summer. "

Nancee-Laetitia M. (5/5)

"Amazing on dogs with skin issues"

Dawn (5/5)

"Great shampoo for my dog. She has been itchy and scratching and after the bath (she has short but fluffy fur) it rinsed out great and it seems to have done wonders. I love knowing that what I put on my dog is safe for her. I was hesitant at first, but after the bath it is definitely my go to dog shampoo for my dog"

Arianna (5/5)

"This smells wonderful and lathers nicely but I'm not sure it's the right fit for my sensitive border collie's skin."

Elizabeth (3/5)

Great dog shampoo

"This soap lathers so we'll, is easy to use when bathing our dogs & leaves their coats so soft & shiny"

Q&A

Hi, I was looking for some clean shampoo for my dog and this looks great, my only question is concerning the peppermint essn oil in the formula. Everything I've read online says it shouldn't be ingested or applied to dogs. I know there is a process to make the soap but if it's still deterring the bugs is the smell still there? I was just looking to get your opinion before buying. Thank you
Hi Tera, Thanks so much for reaching out! We use safe dilutions of our essential oils in our pet products. Since the essential oils is very diluted and not being applied or ingested directly, we have found it to be safe! You can always check with your vet to make sure though! We do also have a bar with no essential oils which is our coconut milk pet shampoo! It is a great, gentle option for those who are more on the sensitive side! I hope this helps! Let us know if you have any other questions or concerns and have a great day! -Christina, Chagrin Valley
Do your pet soaps help to whiten pets with white fur?
Hi There, Thanks so much for reaching out! Our shampoos will help to cleanse your pets fur but it does not have any ingredients to make their fur whiter. I hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns and have a great day! -Christina, Chagrin Valley
What is the Ph value of this soap? I understand acidic soaps should not be used on dogs.
Hi Chuck, Hi Brooke, We appreciate and understand your concern for your dogs skin health! Your question requires a much more in-depth answer..... There is a lot of confusing information and more so mis-information out there in regards to 'pH'. First thing to understand is that solid objects do not have a pH level. pH is the measure of the acidity level of a liquid solution. Therefore, soap bars, shampoo bars, hair, scalp and skin don’t actually have a pH level. Here is our page we've made to explain pH, soap pH, and how it relates to skin health. Mostly, it should help you feel more comfortable that you have a safe and GENTLE product! chagrinvalleysoapandsalve.com/idascorner/soappH.aspx If you have more questions, please let us know. We will be happy to talk about pH further if you need or give help with anything else that would be useful. -Christina, Chagrin Valley
What is the best way to store your soaps when not in use?
Hi Nick, Thanks for your question! It is best to store them in a cool dry area when they are not in use. If you are keeping the bar in the shower, it is best to keep it in an area where it is not in constant contact with water to allow it to dry properly in between uses. This helps to extend the life of the bars. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and have a great day! -Christina, Chagrin Valley
Hi! I’ve been using your dog soap since getting her in July. Recently, I was told not to bathe her every week. Is this dog soap gentle enough so it’s possible to use once a week? She is an inside puppy but loves to go outside and run around in the yard. We have both grass and dirt. Thank you.
Hi Diane, Thanks for reaching out! Yes, our Honey & Oats dog shampoo is a very gentle bar that can be used once a week if desired :) Hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns and have a great day! -Christina, Chagrin Valley
