Distilled Water

Distilled Water

When we make handmade soap water is used to dissolve sodium hydroxide (lye). This lye water reacts with fats (the plant oils and butters) to create soap and glycerin in a natural chemical reaction called saponification. As the soap cures, the water evaporates and creates a nice hard, long-lasting bar of soap.

We also use other water-based liquids like goat milk, juice, beer, tea, coffee, etc. in place of water.
