Apple Cider Vinegar
A Traditional Ingredient for Hair & Scalp Care
Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) has a long history of use in natural hair care, especially as a clarifying and smoothing rinse. Its naturally acidic nature helps remove surface buildup from the hair and scalp, leaving hair looking shinier, smoother, and more manageable.
When residue and product buildup coat the hair shaft, hair can appear dull and feel rough. ACV helps gently cleanse the hair surface and smooth the cuticle, allowing hair strands to slide past one another more easily, reducing tangling and improving overall feel.
Why Apple Cider Vinegar Is Used in Hair Care
When used correctly, apple cider vinegar can help:
- Clarify without harshness: Helps remove excess oil and buildup that can weigh hair down.
- Smooth the hair cuticle: A smoother cuticle reflects more light, contributing to shine and softness.
- Support scalp balance: Leaves the scalp feeling clean and refreshed without stripping.
These are the reasons ACV has remained a staple in traditional hair rinses for generations.
Not all Apple Cider Vinegar is the Same
Quality Matters. We use organic apple cider vinegar made from freshly pressed apples that is raw, unfiltered, and unpasteurized, and contains the “mother” of vinegar. This traditional processing preserves naturally occurring compounds that are lost in clear, highly processed vinegars.
Clear, distilled vinegars may look cleaner on the shelf, but they do not offer the same complexity or character as true raw apple cider vinegar.
