Eucalyptus essential oil, Eucalyptus globulus, often a key ingredient in vapor rubs, is a wonderful oil that has been used in healing for centuries. It has antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal components and a long history of use to help with upper respiratory conditions like colds, influenza, rhinitis, and sinusitis. The oil is steam distilled from fresh or partially dried Eucalyptus leaves.

There are over 700 known species of eucalyptus. Eucalyptus globulus is one of the most commonly distilled species for aromatherapy and personal care products. Eucalyptus radiata, another common species used for essential oils, has a more mellow aroma.
