Bergamot Essential Oil
Clearer Skin, Brighter Mood
Bergamot essential oil, Citrus bergamia, has a beautifully bright fragrance — a sparkling blend of sweet citrus, gentle florals, and subtle herbal freshness. Cold-pressed from the peel of the fruit, bergamot is the distinctive aroma and flavor behind Earl Grey tea.
Though the fruit itself is too sour to eat, it has a long history of use in both Italian folk tradition and Ayurvedic medicine for supporting skin health, digestion, and emotional balance. Today, most of the world’s bergamot still comes from one region: Calabria, Italy.
On the skin, bergamot is valued for its calming, balancing, and purifying effects. It helps soothe dryness and irritation, making it a lovely addition for relieving the discomfort of eczema and psoriasis.
Its gentle astringent nature tones the skin, helps refine pores, supports clearer-looking skin, and assists in reducing blemishes and excess oil without stripping moisture. With natural deodorizing properties, it also refreshes and brightens the body.
In hair care, bergamot can help regulate excessive scalp oil and may contribute to improved shine and a cleaner-feeling scalp. It offers a fresh, invigorating scent while supporting a more balanced scalp environment.
Aromatherapy Properties: Uplifting yet calming, bergamot balances the nervous system and helps restore emotional lightness. Its mood-brightening scent helps ease anxiety, stress, and nervous tension while promoting relaxation and peaceful sleep.
Bergamot is considered second only to lavender for soothing the mind and helping settle restlessness, fatigue, and tension headaches — a beautiful choice for unwinding both body and spirit.
Safety Note: Traditional bergamot oil is photosensitizing due to the presence of bergapten. We use Bergaptene-Free (FCF/BF) bergamot in skin and hair care to minimize the risk of sun sensitivity.
