Parsley Leaf
A Fresh Green Herb for Clear, Balanced Skin
Parsley, Petroselinum crispum, is a bright green, biennial herb—most often grown as an annual—best known as a culinary staple, but it also has a long history of topical use in skin care. A member of the carrot family (Apiaceae), parsley has been used for centuries in facial preparations to cleanse, refresh, and soothe the skin.
Native to the Mediterranean region, parsley contains a dense concentration of naturally occurring vitamins, minerals, and plant compounds that make it useful beyond the kitchen. Its skin-supportive qualities have made it a traditional ingredient in herbal facials and cleansing treatments designed to promote clarity and balance.
Topical Skin Benefits of Parsley
Parsley is valued in skincare for its ability to refresh the skin, support oil balance, and gently improve skin tone and texture.
- Brightening & Tone Support: Parsley is rich in vitamin C, a nutrient important for supporting even-looking skin tone and a healthy glow.
- Soothes Irritation: Anti-inflammatory compounds help calm irritated skin, including rashes, eczema-prone areas, and insect bites.
- Oil Balance & Cleansing: Helps regulate natural oil (sebum) production while gently cleansing pores, making it useful for combination or oily skin.
- Acne & Blemish Support: Antibacterial and mild astringent properties help clarify pores and reduce breakouts.
- Gentle Exfoliation: Finely ground dried parsley flakes help remove surface buildup while remaining mild enough for regular use.
In natural soap, parsley also contributes a natural green color, adding visual appeal without the use of synthetic dyes.
Hair & Scalp Benefits of Parsley
Parsley’s nutrient-rich profile also makes it useful in hair and scalp care, particularly for maintaining scalp balance.
- Scalp Health: Helps soothe scalp irritation and balance oil production, which may help reduce dandruff and flaking.
- Nourishes Hair: Contains vitamins and minerals that support healthier-looking hair and scalp.
- Adds Shine & Softness: Regular topical use can help improve hair texture, leaving it smoother and more manageable.
How We Use Parsley
We infuse dried parsley leaf in oil using our slow, gentle warm-infusion method, which allows oil-soluble plant compounds to be extracted in a mild, skin-friendly form. This infused oil is used in natural soap and natural shampoo bars.
For gentle exfoliation, loose dried parsley leaf is added directly to natural soap.
For color, the dried leaf is finely ground into a powder and added to natural soap and shampoo bars, creating a natural green hue without synthetic dyes.
Parsley is a simple, effective botanical that supports skin and scalp clarity without unnecessary complexity. Its combination of gentle exfoliation, oil balance, and skin-refreshing properties makes it a natural fit for soaps and shampoos designed to cleanse while caring for the skin.
