Flaxseed Oil
Omega-3 Rich Care for Skin & Hair
Flaxseed Oil, Linum usitatissimum, also called linseed oil, is made by grinding and pressing the seeds of the plant so that they release their natural oil. Its Latin species name, usitatissimum, means “very useful". This blue-flowered plant, cultivated since ancient times, has long been valued for its versatility—from linen textiles to food and skin care.
We use organic, unrefined flaxseed oil to ensure it retains its natural color, aroma, and full nutrient content. Rich in vitamins, minerals, and essential fatty acids—especially the omega-3 fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid (ALA)—flaxseed oil helps promote soft, smooth, and healthy-looking skin.
Its high concentration of omega-3s gives flaxseed oil excellent anti-inflammatory and emollient properties, helping calm and moisturize dry, irritated, or sensitive skin. It can be especially soothing for those prone to conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, or acne. When applied topically, it helps seal in moisture and softens the appearance of fine lines while supporting the skin’s natural elasticity.
In Ayurvedic tradition, flaxseed is prized for helping balance skin oils, improve elasticity, and restore radiance to dull or undernourished skin.
In hair care, flaxseed oil helps strengthen strands, enhance shine, and improve manageability. Its fatty acids nourish the scalp, ease dryness and flakiness, and help reduce breakage and frizz. Sealing moisture into the hair shaft, it supports curl elasticity and helps restore softness to brittle or damaged hair.
Pure, organic flaxseed oil can also be used as a soothing scalp massage or deep conditioning treatment for smooth, hydrated, and healthy-looking hair.
We use unrefined USDA Certified Organic cold-pressed flaxseed oil from the seeds of the Linum usitatissimum plant. This unrefined oil has not been bleached or deodorized and retains its natural color, characteristic aroma, and nutritional benefits.Â
NOTE: Although flaxseed and linseed oil are considered the same oil, refined linseed oil is often processed in a way that removes fatty acids and other nutrients from the seeds, is often mixed with chemicals, and is used in painting and woodworking.
