Sea Buckthorn Oil, pressed from the bright orange berries of the Hippophae rhamnoides shrub, is one of the most nutrient-dense botanical oils used in skincare. The whole fruit—pulp, skin, and seeds—is extracted to produce a richly colored oil naturally abundant in vitamins, antioxidants, fatty acids, and carotenoids. Its deep orange hue comes from exceptionally high levels of beta-carotene, vitamin E, and other antioxidant compounds that help support overall skin vitality.

This remarkable oil is one of the very few natural sources of omega-7 (palmitoleic acid)—a fatty acid associated with skin elasticity, hydration, and comfort. It also contains omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9 fatty acids, making it one of the rare oils providing all four major omega families. Together, these nutrients help nourish dry or depleted skin, support softness and suppleness, and encourage a healthier-looking complexion.

Traditionally, sea buckthorn has been used for centuries in many cultures to support tissue repair, calm irritation, and soothe dry, stressed, or healing skin.

The oil is non-comedogenic, so it won’t clog pores, making it an excellent option for acne-prone skin. Its antimicrobial properties help target acne-causing bacteria and balance sebum production, keeping skin clear without feeling stripped.

Sea buckthorn oil penetrates the skin easily, delivering moisture without a greasy film. It’s especially valued for improving the look and feel of dry, sun-exposed, or environmentally stressed skin. Its nutrient-rich profile may help soften the appearance of fine lines, even skin tone, and support the skin’s natural renewal process.

Its soothing nature also makes it popular in products created for dry, flaky, or irritated skin conditions. Traditionally, it has been applied topically to ease discomfort from conditions such as eczema, rosacea, and minor burns. Many of these uses are supported by anecdotal reports and preliminary research, though more clinical studies are needed for full validation.

Sea buckthorn berries are often called a “treasure house of vitamins,” containing vitamin C levels many times higher than oranges. The oil is considered precious—about 10 pounds of berries are needed to produce just 1 pound of oil.

Unlike companies that rely on extracts or diluted derivatives, we use only pure, full-spectrum sea buckthorn oil. Extracts isolate just one or two components; full-spectrum oil—pressed from the entire berry—retains all the bioactive compounds working together: carotenoids, phytosterols, tocopherols, omega fatty acids, and more than 190 active plant constituents.

Our unrefined organic sea buckthorn oil is obtained through supercritical CO₂ extraction, a gentle method that preserves this complete nutrient profile without heat or solvents. The result is a vibrant, deeply nourishing, skin-supportive oil that delivers maximum benefits—especially in healing soaps, salves, and facial oils crafted for dry, sensitive, or mature skin.

Please Note: This very concentrated Sea Buckthorn Oil is unrefined. Unrefined oils have not gone through any refining, bleaching, or deodorization processes. The oil has a strong fruity musky scent that is characteristic of Sea Buckthorn. The deep orange color of sea buckthorn oil can stain skin, clothing, and surfaces. While staining of the skin washes off easily, the staining of clothes and linens may be permanent.
