Product Overview

A timeless natural, handmade, hand-turned wooden shave bowl or powdered facial mask bowl with a lid made from the wood of the Indian Gum Arabic tree, also known as the Prickly Acacia or Babool (babul) Wood.

It is a fast-growing sustainable deciduous tree, that can be quite invasive in nonnative habitats. It is native to the arid and semi-arid regions of the world.

This environmentally-friendly bowl is a must for any wet shaver who uses a shaving soap and brush or anyone who needs a mixing bowl for their delicate facial powders.

  • The bowls are made to fit our shaving soaps which are about 2 3/8 inch in diameter or our clay facial masks that allows for the best stirring and mixing experience
    • the total bowl diameter is about 3 3/4 inches
    • the height is about 1 3/4 inches
    • the inside diameter is about 3 inches

Note: Any leftover hydrated mask should be discarded. This bowl is not a container for saving leftovers!

* This listing is for the wooden bowl only. The bamboo mixing spoon, facial mask applicator brush and the clay mask shown is for example only.

How To Use

For Shaving:

After you have used up a shaving soap, clean the bowl before adding in a new shaving soap puck.

For more information please read: How To Use Natural Shaving Soap

For Clay Face Masks:

To ensure the most hygienic mask application, scoop the clay from the jar using the bamboo spoon, place into the wooden bowl, add water and mix well with the mixing spoon.

Use the applicator brush to apply the mask to the face and neck. Clean the set after each use with warm soapy water and air dry.

Care Tips

The wood will retain its natural beauty for a long time if treated properly.

Hand wash only. Wipe clean with mild soap and water and dry thoroughly after cleaning.

If the bowl begins to look dry or worn, rub with a small amount of walnut or linseed (flaxseed) oils.  Unfortunately, most vegetable oils, like olive, will go rancid after a period of time and can become gummy which may create an environment in which bacteria can multiply.

Q&A

To be clear, this can get wet to produce a lather, right? It’s not just for storage. In other words I can have soap bloom in here, load my brush, remove puck then lather in this bowl then rinse out and air dry when I’m done shaving then when dry use to store shave puck/soap.
Hi Scott, Thanks for your question! Yes, you can use this bowl to hold your shaving soap and create a lather for shaving soap. We do recommend, as you already mentioned, cleaning it out and allowing it to air dry in between uses! Let us know if you have any other questions or concerns and have a great day! -Christina, Chagrin Valley
Can you leave these bowls in shower?
Hi There, Thanks so much for your question! We do not recommend storing this shaving bowl in your shower as being constantly wet or in a moist environment can cause the bowl wear. Hope this helps! Thanks again for reaching out and please contact us anytime with additional questions or concerns! -Christina, Chagrin Valley
I really like this bowl but I'm wanting to put sterling soaps into it, which has me leery about the dimensions. The pucks state they are 3 inches, and the bowl states that the interior is around 3 inches. Should I look for another bowl? I really dont want to have to press my soap into the bowl each time.
Hi There, Thanks for your question! If your soap is exactly 3 inches in diameter this wooden shaving bowl may not be the best fit for you. The soap that we have to be used in this bowl is 2 3/8 inches in diameter and fits comfortably in the bowl. It may be too snug with a 3 inch in diameter soap bar. Hope this helps! Thanks again for reaching out and please contact us anytime with additional questions or concerns! -Christina, Chagrin Valley
