Illipe Butter, Shorea stenoptera, is a luxurious, pale yellow butter extracted from the nuts of a magnificent tree that grows deep in the rainforests of Borneo. For centuries, the inhabitants of the island have been using this butter as a treatment for skin problems. to soothe and restore dry or irritated skin.
The tall Illipe tree can reach up to 50 feet in height and produces nuts containing about 50% fat. After the nuts fall naturally to the forest floor, they are collected, sun-dried, and then cold-pressed to extract their rich, creamy butter. Though solid at room temperature, Illipe melts beautifully upon contact with the skin, releasing its conditioning nutrients.
Chemically similar to cocoa butter, Illipe is rich in unsaturated fatty acids such as oleic and linoleic acid, along with vitamins A and E. These nutrients help support the natural moisture of the skin, enhance elasticity, and leave skin feeling smooth, supple, and deeply hydrated. Its rich emollient texture helps ease symptoms of dryness and irritation, making it especially beneficial for those with eczema, dermatitis, or sensitive skin.
In hair care, Illipe Butter nourishes both scalp and strands. Its vitamins and fatty acids help stimulate natural sebum production, improve elasticity, and protect against moisture loss. It conditions dry or damaged hair, tames frizz, smooths split ends, and imparts softness and natural shine.
