Organic Coffee Beans (Fair Trade)

Coffee
A Wake-Up Call for Skin & Hair

Organic coffee is rich in skin-loving nutrients, including antioxidants, vitamin E, and essential minerals that help nourish, protect, and refresh the skin. These compounds support healthy-looking skin by helping defend against environmental stressors that contribute to dullness and dryness.

Coffee also contains caffeine, a natural stimulant well known for its toning and firming effects. When used topically, caffeine helps boost circulation and temporarily tighten the skin, giving it a smoother, more refined appearance and a natural, healthy glow. As a mild vasoconstrictor, caffeine can also help reduce puffiness and the appearance of fluid-related swelling.

Finely ground coffee beans provide gentle, natural exfoliation. They help polish away dead skin cells, clear clogged pores, and smooth rough patches without stripping the skin’s natural oils. Regular exfoliation supports skin renewal, leaving skin feeling soft, bright, and refreshed.

Coffee’s antioxidant compounds, combined with its circulation-boosting properties, support a more even tone and luminous complexion. Its mild antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activity may also help calm minor irritation and support clearer-looking skin.

How We Use Coffee

We use organic, Fair Trade coffee in several different forms, each chosen for a specific purpose.

Finely Ground Coffee & Espresso Beans

Finely ground coffee beans provide exfoliation, removing dead skin cells and firming and toning the skin. They are also used in natural soaps and scrubs to absorb odors from the skin.

You’ll find ground coffee in products like our Coffee & Clove natural soap bar, MOcha Java Body Scrub, and Cocoa & Espreso Face Mask.

Coffee-Infused Oil

We make our own coffee-infused oil by gently warming fresh coffee beans in nourishing organic plant oils. This slow infusion helps draw out oil-soluble compounds such as antioxidant polyphenols and vitamin E, while capturing coffee’s rich, energizing aroma.

Coffee-infused oil adds conditioning benefits to products like lip balms, natural soaps, natural shampoo bars, and body scrubs—along with that unmistakable coffee aroma that turns daily care into a small ritual.

Brewed Coffee

We also use freshly brewed, very strong coffee as a liquid base in some natural soap and shampoo bars. Brewed coffee contributes caffeine, natural sugars, and antioxidants while enhancing lather and helping absorb odors from skin and scalp.

Key Skin Benefits of Coffee

  • Boosts Circulation: Encourages blood flow, delivering oxygen and nutrients for healthier-looking skin
  • Firms & Tones: Caffeine temporarily tightens skin for a smoother appearance
  • Reduces Puffiness: Vasoconstricting effects help minimize swelling
  • Gentle Exfoliation: Polishes away dead skin cells without harshness
  • Invigorating Aroma: The aroma of fresh coffee awakens the senses and elevates the experience

Coffee for Hair & Scalp

Coffee offers similar revitalizing benefits in hair care. For generations, brunettes have used coffee rinses to enhance rich tones and natural shine. When used topically, caffeine helps stimulate circulation to the scalp, supporting healthy hair growth and a balanced scalp environment.

Coffee-infused oils add luster to dry strands, while antioxidants help protect hair follicles from environmental stress. Coffee’s mild antibacterial properties may also help ease scalp itchiness and flaking, while its natural acidity smooths hair cuticles for added shine.

Key Hair Benefits

  • Stimulates Scalp Circulation: Supports healthy hair growth
  • Adds Shine & Smoothness: Natural oils from coffee beans add luster to dry strands, smooth texture, and enhance manageability
  • Strengthens Hair: Antioxidants help protect and fortify strands
  • Supports Scalp Comfort: Helps reduce dullness and irritation

About Caffeine in Coffee-Infused Oil

Caffeine is well known to be water-soluble, but research suggests it also has some ability to interact with oils. While the exact degree of caffeine transfer into infused oils is still debated, we do know that caffeine can easily cross lipid membranes. This suggests that coffee-infused oils may offer some of caffeine’s topical benefits, alongside the well-documented antioxidant and conditioning properties of the oil itself.
