How to Use

Avoid contact with eyes.

Use The Bar: Wet the bar and massage gently on the skin to create lather and wash. Rinse well and pat dry.

Hand Latherer: Create lather in your hands and massage gently on the skin to wash. Rinse well and pat dry.Organic Cotton Washcloth

Washcloth Washers: A very gentle massage with a soft washcloth can help remove dead cells associated with cradle cap and eczema. Be sure washcloths are allowed to dry and laundered often.

Shampoo: Our Baby soap also makes a great natural baby shampoo. Simply create a bit of lather in your hands and shampoo away. While we only use simple, natural and organic ingredients, it is soap, so take care to keep the soap away from baby's eyes.

For problems with cradle cap, just before shampooing, gently massage the baby's scalp with your fingers or a very, very soft brush to loosen the scales. Read more about "Natural Help for Cradle Cap"

For External use only. When using any new product on infants or young children we recommend a patch test for allergies or sensitivities. Click Here for Patch Test Information.

FAQs

Natural Organic Oat Skin Care

Stutzman Farms, in Millersburg, is located right in the heart of the beautiful Ohio Amish farms of Holmes County. Monroe Stutzman runs the main Stutzman grains farm where they grow and mill organic grains in the traditional stone-ground fashion.

Stutzman Farms focuses on local and organic farming, as well as an on-site mill.

They do not bleach their flours or oats and do not use bromate or preservatives. They have many customers who follow a gluten-free diet and use their sprouted rolled oat and spelt flour. He has an amazing device called a ‘puffer’ which he uses to puff rice and corn that they then sweeten and sell all over Ohio.

Monroe's brother Arlie runs "Ice Shanty Cheese" and makes cheese from 100% grass-fed cow’s milk.

At Chagrin Valley Soap we believe in the power of small businesses and know they are the engine that drives our country. We often receive questions as to whether our soaps, shampoos, and other items are safe to use on young children.

A baby’s skin, so thin and delicate, is no place for harmful synthetic chemicals. Sadly, even some of the most trusted baby brands add nasty chemicals to their products.

Read the label on a bar of commercial baby soap or shampoo. Read the label on a bottle of commercial baby oil. Now read the ingredients in Chagrin Valley products.

We recommend starting with our Milk & Honey Baby Soap. We also recommend our three Castile soaps and Carrot & Honey Soap. They are unscented and, as with all of our products, contain no artificial ingredients!

My grandkids use our Milk & Honey bar as a baby shampoo--just keep the soap away from their eyes.

When you think your child is ready, try some new soaps. Natural Organic Baby Skin Care Soap

As with all new products, it is best to do a skin patch test prior to full usage to test for any skin allergies or sensitivities. If you have any questions or concerns always check with your doctor or health care professional.

It is best to add only one new soap or product at a time and use it for a while before switching to a new soap.

Essential Oils & Children: We do not provide information on the safety of essential oils for use in Children because the available information is very ambiguous and often contradictory. If you are interested in using essential oils with young children please consult your health care professional before use.

Please do not ask us to diagnose your child's skin problems, we are not health care professionals. Our recommendations are based on what our customers have shared.   Natural Organic Baby Skin Care

The answer is, YES!

Chagrin Valley Soap & Salve is a USDA Certified Organic company. Certified Organic Skin Care

The most important consideration in any business is its customers. Today's world of misleading claims, false advertising, and simple deception, often leaves consumers trying to discover the truth about personal products and their ingredients.

  • We want our customers to know that we are committed to transparency in everything we do.
  • We want our customers to know that when we say "organic," we mean it.
  • We believe that in becoming a USDA Certified Organic company, our customers do not have to wonder if we really use certified organic ingredients or if our organic products are truly organic.
  • So we choose to be a certified organic company and abide by the strict standards required for organic certification.

Why Did We Become a Certified Organic Company?

What Do All of the Organic Labels Mean?

Organic Soap Labeling

The Short Answer

NO! Adding antibacterial chemicals to soap does not keep your family safe from germs.

I understand why folks (especially those with children) are choosing products labeled “Antibacterial,” hoping to keep their family safe in the war against germs.

"Consumers may think antibacterial washes are more effective at preventing the spread of germs, but we have no scientific evidence that they are any better than plain soap and water," Natural Organic Soap Best For Germssaid Janet Woodcock, M.D., director of the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER). “In fact, some data suggests that antibacterial ingredients may do more harm than good over the long-term.”

Simply washing your hands with old-fashioned natural soap and water rids your skin of most fungi, bacteria, and viruses. Soap does not kill germs, it surrounds them and carries them away.

Why We Believe In Natural, Organic Skin Care

March 28, 2014

We believe in natural and organic ingredients because we manufacture and sell products that cater to the largest organ in the human body—the Skin. No skincare product, whether natural, organic or conventional can “cure” aging. Aging is a fact of life, not a condition that needs to be (or can be) cured by skincare products. So, why use organic skincare? My answer—Why Not!

Natural Soap Compared To Commercial Soap

August 19, 2014

We probably use the word “soap” every day to simply mean some sort of cleansing agent. What we do not realize is that most of what we call “soap” is actually not soap at all! If it does not say "soap" then it is not really soap! So is there a real difference between a commercial soap purchased at your grocery store and a natural handmade soap bar? I will let you judge for yourself!
