Product Overview

Good For: All Skin Types • Sensitive Skin • Delicate Skin • Reactive Skin • Eczema-prone Skin

For those tender moments between baby and parent, we believe only the simplest, most gentle ingredients should touch a baby’s delicate skin. Milk & Honey Baby Soap is made with the same trusted recipe as our Goat Milk Oatmeal Soap, thoughtfully adapted for little ones whose skin responds best to calm, uncomplicated care.

As warm water meets the bar, it creates a soft, creamy lather in your hands. Using your palms and fingertips, gently wash and massage your baby’s skin, letting the lather glide slowly over arms, legs, tummy, and back. The soap cleanses gently, leaving skin feeling soft, lightly moisturized, and comfortable.

Bath time becomes more than washing — it’s a moment to slow down. A warm bath and gentle touch can help settle your baby, turning an everyday routine into a quiet moment of connection.

Ingredients Behind the Feel

Every ingredient in this soap is chosen for a reason. Thoughtfully combined, they work together to create something more than a simple cleanse — a carefully crafted bar designed for delicate skin that goes beyond ordinary soap.

Highlights of this recipe:

  • Fresh Goat Milk — Contributes natural fats and sugars that help create a dense, creamy lather with a soft, comforting feel during cleansing.
  • Oat Flour — Produces a creamy, non-exfoliating lather that calms delicate or sensitive skin
  • Honey — Contributes to the soap’s mildness and enhances the creamy, silky lather.
  • Unrefined Shea & Cocoa Butters — Add richness and creaminess to the lather and bring a smooth, moisturizing feel to the skin.
Aroma, Texture & Lather Notes
  • Aroma: Light, warm aroma of toasted oats, milk, and sweet honey
No added fragrance or essential oils.
  • Texture: Light, bumpy texture when dry due to fine oat flour particles that soften and melt into the lather during use
  • Lather: Smooth, rich, creamy lather that feels gentle and comforting on skin
  • Exfoliation: Non-exfoliating

How To Use

Avoid contact with eyes.

Use The Bar: Wet the bar and massage gently on the skin to create lather and wash. Rinse well and pat dry.

Hand Latherer: Create lather in your hands and massage gently on the skin to wash. Rinse well and pat dry.Organic Cotton Washcloth

Washcloth Washers: A very gentle massage with a soft washcloth can help remove dead cells associated with cradle cap and eczema. Be sure washcloths are allowed to dry and laundered often.

Shampoo: Our Baby soap also makes a great natural baby shampoo. Simply create a bit of lather in your hands and shampoo away. While we only use simple, natural and organic ingredients, it is soap, so take care to keep the soap away from baby's eyes.

For problems with cradle cap, just before shampooing, gently massage the baby's scalp with your fingers or a very, very soft brush to loosen the scales. Read more about "Natural Help for Cradle Cap"

Why We Use Stutzman Farms' Oat Products

Our Local Grain Partner
Stutzman Farms

Nestled in the heart of Ohio’s Amish country, Stutzman Farms is located in Millersburg, within the rolling farmland of Holmes County. The farm is run by Monroe Stutzman, who grows and mills organic grains using traditional, time-honored methods that prioritize quality, integrity, and care.

Stutzman Farms focuses on local, organic farming and operates an on-site stone mill. Their grains are never bleached and never treated with bromate or preservatives—just clean, thoughtfully grown food processed with respect for the ingredient and the people who use it.

Many of their customers follow gluten-free or alternative grain diets, and the farm is well known for its sprouted rolled oats and spelt flour. Monroe also uses a fascinating piece of equipment called a “puffer,” which gently puffs grains like rice and corn—products that are then lightly sweetened and sold throughout Ohio.

The Stutzman family’s commitment to craftsmanship extends beyond grains. Monroe’s brother, Arlie Stutzman, operates "Ice Shanty Cheese", producing cheese made from 100% grass-fed cow’s milk—another example of the family’s dedication to traditional methods and responsible agriculture.

Why This Matters to Us

At Chagrin Valley Soap & Salve, we believe small businesses are the backbone of our communities. Local farmers and makers bring deep expertise to their craft, take pride in their work, and understand the value of doing things right—even when it takes more time and effort.

By sourcing our organic oats from Stutzman Farms, we support a farming family that shares our values: transparency, sustainability, and respect for both people and the land. It’s one more way we stay connected to our ingredients—and to the community that helps make our products possible.

Can I Use Your Products on my Baby or Young Children?
Organic_Baby_Skin_Care

We often receive questions as to whether our soaps, shampoos, and other items are safe to use on young children.

A baby’s skin, so thin and delicate, is no place for harmful synthetic chemicals.

Sadly, even some of the most trusted baby brands add nasty chemicals to their products.

Read the label on a bar of commercial baby soap or shampoo. Read the label on a bottle of commercial baby oil. Now read the ingredients in Chagrin Valley products.

We recommend starting with our Milk & Honey Baby Soap. We also recommend our two Castile soaps and Carrot & Honey Soap. They are unscented and, as with all of our products, contain no artificial ingredients!

My grandkids use our Milk & Honey bar as a baby shampoo--just keep the soap away from their eyes.

When you think your child is ready, try some new soaps.

As with all new products, it is best to do a skin patch test prior to full usage to test for any skin allergies or sensitivities. If you have any questions or concerns always check with your doctor or health care professional.

It is best to add only one new soap or product at a time and use it for a while before switching to a new soap.

Essential Oils & Children: We do not provide information on the safety of essential oils for use in Children because the available information is very ambiguous and often contradictory. If you are interested in using essential oils with young children please consult your health care professional before use.

Please do not ask us to diagnose your child's skin problems, we are not health care professionals. Our recommendations are based on what our customers have shared.

Are Chagrin Valley Ingredients & Products USDA Certified Organic?

Chagrin Valley Soap & Salve is a USDA Certified Organic Company

Certified Organic Skin Care

The most important consideration in any business is its customers. Today's world of misleading claims, false advertising, and simple deception, often leaves consumers trying to discover the truth about personal products and their ingredients.

  • We want our customers to know that we are committed to transparency in everything we do.
  • We want our customers to know that when we say "organic," we mean it.
  • We believe that in becoming a USDA Certified Organic company, our customers do not have to wonder if we really use certified organic ingredients or if our organic products are truly organic.
  • So we choose to be a certified organic company and abide by the strict standards required for organic certification.

Some of my favorite products are made with ingredients that just do not exist as certified organic. Why? At this time there are no standards created for ingredients specifically used in the personal care product industry. Organic certification of personal care products is based on the organic food standards set by the National Organic Program of the USDA.

But since we are a certified organic company, we are required to submit documentation that even our "non-organic ingredients" were produced without the use of toxic pesticides, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), sewage sludge, or irradiation.

Don't I need to use antibacterial soap to protect my family from germs?

The Short Answer

NO! Adding antibacterial chemicals to soap does not keep your family safe from germs.

I understand why folks (especially those with children) are choosing products labeled “Antibacterial,” hoping to keep their family safe in the war against germs.

According to Janet Woodcock, M.D., director of the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER).

"Consumers may think antibacterial washes are more effective at preventing the spread of germs, but we have no scientific evidence that they are any better than plain soap and water.

In fact, some data
suggests that antibacterial ingredients may do more harm than good over the long-term.”

Simply washing your hands with old-fashioned natural soap and water rids your skin of most fungi, bacteria, and viruses. Soap does not kill germs, it surrounds them and carries them away.
