How to Use
Directions: Using a bar of soap to wash your dog is much simpler and less messy than using liquid soap. The perfect size bar fits in the palm of your hand for easier use.
Rub the bar on your dog's wet coat to create a rich, creamy lather. Working from head to tail, carefully avoiding eyes, massage the natural shampoo deep into your dog's coat. Rinse thoroughly to prevent dried soapy hair. Rub your pooch down with a clean, dry towel.

Aren't all handmade natural soaps the same? . . .
The answer is NO!
Saying a soap is "handmade" says nothing about quality of the ingredients or the knowledge and skill of the soapmaker!

Chagrin Valley Natural Soaps Are Made Using Natural & Organic Ingredients and Are Biodegradable!
What Does Biodegradable Mean?
By definition, biodegradable means capable of being broken down by the action of living things, like natural bacteria, into simple substances that are not harmful to the environment.
If You Are A Camper Or Backpacker, Please Read On...
There are many soap makers out there with good intentions who are claiming that their biodegradable soap or shampoo is safe to use in rivers and streams.
Even biodegradable soap can eventually pollute lakes and streams if it is not used sparingly.
The bacteria that break down natural soap are present mostly in the soil. That means that when you wash, please be sure that your soapy rinse water ends up in the soil away from freshwater sources like lakes, rivers, and streams.
What Are Pure Essential Oils?
Have you ever enjoyed the scent of a fragrant flower or herb? The fragrance comes from potent, aromatic compounds called essential oils.
These natural compounds are found in the flowers, stems, seeds, bark, roots, fruits, and other parts of plants. It often requires several pounds of a plant to produce a single bottle of essential oil.
Essential oils not only give plants their unique scents but also help lure plant pollinators and protect plants from insects and other predators.
The chemical composition of essential oils may provide valuable psychological and physical aromatherapeutic benefits for some people.
It is important to note that to be a true essential oil, the oil must be isolated from the plant material by physical means only.
Essential oils are NEVER extracted using solvents.
Although synthetic fragrances or "nature identical" oils are available at a much lower cost, only natural plant essential oils will provide the botanical benefits.
Be careful that the essential oil-containing products you purchase for topical use are mixed with the correct medium.
Essential oils are soluble (dissolve) in alcohol and carrier oils. However, they are insoluble (do not dissolve) in water or water-based liquids like hydrosols, milk, aloe, or even witch hazel (which contains a small amount of alcohol).
When mixed with a water-based ingredient the molecules of the essential oil will float in tiny droplets on the surface (think of oil droplets on the surface of water). Those droplets can behave like undiluted essential oils on your skin and cause irritation.

When I came out to visit you in June we purchased the lavender and cedarwood dog shampoo bar at the suggestion of your staff. I love this stuff! My schnauzer has had these strange recurring bumps that the vet could not diagnose. After a few baths with a truly natural shampoo bar - the bumps were gone. This has been going on for over a year, I was so happy to pet him him without any weird bumps, I can not begin to tell you how happy I was. As for our other two dogs, well bath time has never been a good time, there's kicking and screaming and whining - and that's just from me. Then after the baths my dogs immediately find either the nicest blanket in the house or the most disgusting thing outside to roll in. I thought this was normal, or that they were just drying off. They don't do that after a Chagrin Valley bath. I am anthropomorphizing here, but I think they don't mind how they smell or they don't mind because it isn't loaded with chemicals or both. Either way, I'm grateful because my Cairn Terrier enjoys jumping in the swamp after a bath, which just means more baths. And our last bath did not include a swamp stop for him. Yay! It's the little things in life. As for our beautiful little mutt, she has stopped ruining our children's favorite blankets, pillows, stuffed animals......and the list goes on....because she is no longer rubbing her self all over their stuff. Thank you. Claire, Wisconsin
Just wanted to thank you so much for your products! Myself, my husband, & our dog use your soaps. We have a Boston terrier, and they are notorious for having allergies & sensitive skin. I bought the Cedarwood Lavender shampoo for Gibson, and he actually looks forward to bathtime ever since! After we lather & rinse, his coat is dry so much faster, & he is super shiny! Huge bonus is his skin no longer flakes afterwards, except in the worst of winter. He isn't very itchy anymore, & rarely gets any sort of bugs on him. I've been able to stop using topical insect repellants finally! We all hated how oily & stinky they were, and we couldn't pet him until they were absorbed, plus they really didn't work. I'd find ticks on him a day after applying the treatment. He's been getting washed with your shampoo, no insect treatments, & has barely had any bugs all summer! Thank you again, you have another family of loyal customers for life! My dog's name is Gibson. We live in Florida, but travel all over the U.S. & Canada as truck drivers, so the changing weather used to wreak havoc on our skin/hair. We hope you continue making affordable quality products for a long time! Giuseppina, Florida
I have an English Mastiff with very sensitive yet very stinky skin. My sample bar of Cedarwood & Lavender dog shampoo arrived in the mail today and I had to use it right away. THIS IS THE BEST DOG SHAMPOO EVER! My dog smells wonderful, no medicine smell & absolutely no itching! The bar lathers up great making it easier to wash a 165lb dog! I love this stuff and have already recommended it to friends ( I just got it 6 hours ago!). I will definitely be buying more! Thanks for a great product at a great price! Danielle
Hi Ida, I recently purchased some items for the first time from you and wanted to let you know how pleased I am with them. One of the items I purchased was the Lavender and Cedarwood dog shampoo bar. I have a horse, Kathleen, who has been suffering from skin allergies for many years, to the point where she gets allergy shots. She's very sensitive. We are having some freakishly hot weather for November, and I've felt sorry for my horses in their winter coats in this hot weather, which is also attracting more flies than even the summer months. I gave Kathleen a bath with this soap. I was very pleased at how well it lathered despite our hard water, and more importantly, how easily it rinsed clean. This soap did not bother her sensitive skin, in fact the lavender soothed it, and the cedarwood kept the flies away. Her coat was soft and shiny when she was dry. Since there are a limited number of things I can use topically on this horse, I'm happy to have found this shampoo, and I'll definitely be keeping it around. Thanks for making such a great product for my four legged kids. Peggy, California
